President of the European Parliament Martin Shulz has penned a powerful note in support of the Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) co-leaders Selahattin Demirtaş and Figen Yüksekdağ on his Facebook page on Friday, November 4th, and hinted that the actions on behalf of the Turkish government might jeopardize its candidacy in joining the European Union.
The course of action by the Government calls into question the basis for the sustainable relationship between EU and Turkey and the commitment of the Turkish Government to democratic values and to its European aspirations.
