In Japan, Kurds face a struggle to navigate their way through the toughest refugee entrance system among advanced economies.
Estimates indicate that there are around 1,200 Kurds living in Warabi and Kawaguchi in central Japan. Nearly all of them are on “provisional release” from immigration detention centres and are referred to in official documents as “undesirable”.
Middle East Eye takes a look at how this strict system affects the refugees currently residing in Japan.
