Kurdish Politicians in Turkey Enter Fourth Day of Hunger Strike

The hunger strike started by pro-Kurdish HDP (Peoples’ Democratic Party) politicians, in solidarity with Nusaybin, a town in the Kurdish-majority region of Turkey, continues for the fourth day.

Imposed Curfew Kills Kurds

Eight civilians have been killed so far by state forces in Mardin’s Nusaybin district where a curfew and onslaught against people continues in its tenth uninterrupted day, to which people respond with self-defense.

The pro-Kurdish HDP deputies from Mardin, Gülser Yıldırım, Ali Atalan, Mithat Sancar, and Erol Dora, went on a hunger strike four days ago to draw attention to the situation in Nusaybin, a town near Mardin.

A number of civilians from Amed (Diyarbakir) and Mardin’s Kızıltepe, Derik, Mazıdağı, Savur districts have come to the scene in solidarity with the resistance of Nusaybin people and hunger strike of their representatives.

The hunger strike is taking place at a petrol station near the district, into which no access is allowed amid an intense blockade of state forces.
