This Kurdish Woman Was Imprisoned for Singing in Turkey

Nûdem Durak sings and teaches Kurdish folk songs to kids in Turkey. She says her work honors her heritage, but the government imprisoned her for promoting Kurdish propaganda. Caught in a decades-long conflict between Turkey and the Kurds, Nûdem’s future is now uncertain.
