VICE News recently published a three part documentary covering the Kurdish Peshmerga forces that are fighting against the so-called Islamic State in Iraqi Kurdistan. To record the lives of the Kurdish men and women that are defending Iraq’s front lines against ISIS, VICE reporters embedded themselves in a Peshmerga unit for one month.
The Road to Mosul
The Kurdish Peshmerga fighters are defending a 600 mile frontline that stretches from Sinjar in Western Iraq, to Kirkuk in Southern Iraqi Kurdistan. This frontline partially encircles Mosul, which is the Islamic State’s stronghold in Iraq.
