Music in Exile is a nonprofit that documents the songs and stories of displaced people, with a mission to preserve cultural heritage and tradition of communities that have been impacted and affected by war.
The Kurdish Project worked with Music in Exile to highlight a collection of recordings, photographs, and stories of displaced musicians during a humanitarian crisis in Syria and Iraq—when 15 million people were uprooted in the Middle East.
Our Aim
To document the humanitarian crisis in Syria and Iraq through music and to raise awareness of the musicians who used music to cope during difficult times.
What We Accomplished
The Kurdish Project created a webpage dedicated to the Music in Exile project and circulated films that documented musicians in IDP camps. Our page provides a link to learn more about the project and to donate to the cause.
